Special Recognition:
International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN)

ICAN (International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons) has 541 nongovernmental organization (NGO) members in more than 100 countries, promoting adherence to and implementation of the United Nations nuclear weapon ban treaty, a landmark global agreement that was adopted in New York on July 7, 2017. Because of its work against nuclear weapons, ICAN was awarded the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize. The Dallas Peace and Justice Center was happy to cohost a reception hosted by Soka Gakkai, one of the largest member organizations in the Dallas area, honoring ICAN.
