Alia Salem
Alia Salem is the Founder and President of a new non-profit called FACE, which stands for “Facing Abuse in Community Environments.” FACE takes a multi-faceted approach to confront and address abuse at the hands of religious and community leaders engaging in corrupt practices. She is a social justice activist with a background in organizational development and is based in Irving, Texas. Alia is the former Executive Director for the DFW Chapter of CAIR and is a 13-year veteran of community work within the broader DFW metroplex. This summer she participated in the 2017 Dallas Voice greenhouse for emerging female leaders and was recently recognized this past spring as one of Dallas Weekly’s 2017 Millenials to Watch.
Alia is a published writer and public speaker with her work being featured on most major media outlets globally. She is a graduate of UT Arlington with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with her three focuses of study being in Communications, Sociology and Religion/Culture. Alia is also very excited to release her new podcast on intersectional identities called Redneck Egyptian due out early 2018.
