Aftab Siddiqui has been actively involved with Community organizations for three decades in the fields of social justice, environment and peace. He is the President of the Dallas Peace & Justice Center and in the past served as a Board Member Texas Coalition to Abolish Death Penalty. He volunteered with the United Way of Tarrant County, was a member of the Cabinet and Chaired Families Impact Council. His volunteerism in healthcare and social justice fields led to his stint for two desdes with the Muslim Community Center for Human Services – a nonprofit that provides charitable health and social services (www.mcc-hs.org) to the community at large. He served in the Board and later on as the Chair of the organization. Aftab is deeply concerned about democracy and human rights issues in South Asia. He is a founding Board member of South Asia Democracy Watch – an organization that works for human, women's & religious rights and democracy in South Asia. He is formerly President and currently Board member Muslim Democratic Caucus of Texas; is a Member Executive Committee of Tarrant County Democratic Party. He played a key role in organizing Ballot Box Barbecue (2002) - a massive voter registration drive - and Civil Rights Conferences (2003, 2004, and 2005). Prior to migrating to the US in 1993, Aftab played a key role in establishing the Amnesty International Chapter in Pakistan. He was actively involved in campaigns against human rights violations and the death penalty.
Aftab worked for sixteen years at American Airlines till his retirement from the Scheduling & Networking Department in 2012; he was actively involved with the Diversity Initiative at work and was a member of Diversity Advisory Council. After his retirement from American Airlines he worked with Dallas County Schools in helping to provide transportation to school children. Before migrating to the US, Aftab worked in production management in the manufacturing sector and later taught as Assistant Professor at Institute of Business Administration, University of Karachi. Academically, he has done his BS (Elect), MBA, and MPA (UT Arlington).
