But there was shouting last Saturday in Dealey Plaza in Dallas as about a dozen demonstrators urged Governor Abbott— “Do NOT Sign HB 3557 into LAW!” A rally is planned in Austin June 15.
It’s public pushback to a shocking legislative turnaround at the Capitol at the end of May.
On June 1, Dallas activists shared the same concerns about HB 3557 voiced by thousands of Texans in calls, emails, public testimony and protests at the legislature since the bill’s introduction by Rep. Chris Paddie (R-Sherman) in March."

Former Texas State Legislator & DPJC Member Lon Burnam featured in Esquire magazine article
Former Texas State Legislator Lon Burnam is known in North Texas for his tireless efforts to address climate change and advocate for peace and justice. His efforts are apparent in the August 30th article by Charles P. Pierce in Esquire magazine - while the obstruction of Republicans as climate deniers is also apparent.
This article demands accountability from Texas. State Government for the ongoing crisis in the Houston area and chemical explosion happening at a chemical plant. Former Texas State Representative Lon Burnam is mentioned multiple times for the legislation he tried repeatedly to put forth on having a plan for climate change disasters. It never made it out of committee because the term "climate change" was used.
