The Ackerman Center, in conjunction with the Center for US-Latin America Initiatives (CUSLAI), the University of Dallas, and the Dallas Peace and Justice Center invites you to join us for a special lecture event “Searching for the Disappeared: Mexican Mothers Turning Grief into Action.” Activist Lucia Diaz, and Matt Hone, PhD will discuss the tens of thousands of victims of violence unaccounted for throughout Mexico, and the work of El Colectivo Solecito, an organization of mothers searching for their missing children. In the beleaguered state of Veracruz, they are fighting for justice, transparency and closure through the arduous labor of locating and identifying mass graves, as well as by providing support for the loved ones left behind in the wake of this atrocity.
The lecture will be held in GR 3.302 (Cecil Green Hall) on October 7, 2019 at 7 pm.
