Kasra Restaurant, 525 W. Arapaho Rd. #21, Richardson, TX, 75080
Join us for a fascinating evening with government whistleblower Matthew Hoh, talented filmmaker Chris Smiley, fun photojournalist Ellen Davidson, and consummate troublemaker, Tarak Kauff!
Senior Fellow at the Center for International Policy, Matthew Hoh, who resigned his State Department position in protest of US foreign policy, returns to Dallas, this time with members of the Veterans For Peace Palestine/Israel Delegation who have also traveled to Ferguson, Standing Rock, Jeju Island, and Okinawa -- and will visit the US/Mexico border this fall -- to witness and support oppressed communities. Filmmaker Chris Smiley will be along to show dramatic clips from this eventful trip, soon to be made into a documentary series (trailer).
As part of a nine-person delegation that visited Palestine earlier this year, these VFP stalwarts met with Palestinian popular resistance leaders as well as members of the Knesset. They participated in nonviolent direct action and witnessed the resiliency, solidarity, creativity and courage of the Palestinian resistance to the Israeli occupation and the settlements that steal their land, water, and other resources. Now, they are touring Texas to tell us what they observed first-hand! Their experience helped them to see how Palestinian struggles relate to those of oppressed communities in Texas and beyond. Read one of Matt's articles on Common Dreams.
