4th Annual Declare World Peace Concert
Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 7 PM – 9 PM

Sangeet Millennium presents the Fourth Annual Declare World Peace Celebration of Global Music, Dance, and Poetry, in observance of 9/11.

In remembrance of the dark chaos due to war, intolerance, hate, fear, polarization of people, and environmental calamity occurring both globally and locally, all the artists who will perform in this concert collectively seek to create and hold a space of love, respect, tolerance, safety, and positive change. This family-friendly event, the final one of Sangeet Millennium’s 2019 “South Asian Music for the World Series” is supported in part by a grant from the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs. Co-sponsors are Dallas Peace and Justice Center and Unity of Dallas.

This exciting multicultural, multidisciplinary, and multilingual concert features the critically acclaimed Indo-jazz-world fusion project Sangeet Millennium Ensemble, founded in 2006 and led by Dallas-based sitarist Amie Maciszewski, with members from Dallas, Austin, and India and/or Pakistan. They collaborate with an international cast of expert performers, including the multidisciplinary Art Nomadic collective, music from the Islamic world by the Jamal Mohamed Trio, and more TBA.
